- [Caller] I'm on theUniversity of Dayton campus, a student just got struck by
lightening in the parking lot. He's not moving. - [Operator] Okay, is he conscious? - [Caller] Is he conscious? No, I don't... I don't believe he is.
He's not responding to anything right now. - [Operator] Stay with him. Did you say they're already doing CPR? - [Caller] There's one guy just got here, he's doing chest compressions on him. - The bystanders checking on him, had already determined there
was no pulse and they asked me because I just
approached, "Do you know CPR?" And it all kinda came
flooding back into my mind from the other day.
I just started doing chest
compressions just the way I had learned them on the kiosk. - You can't make that up,
that's such a powerful God moment and I have time
on Earth here that I didn't, that I shouldn't have had,
to be able to have a second chance at life. - As a Marianist University,
we are called to employ our head, our heart, and our
hands in service to others. And, therefore, it's not a
surprise to see the training sign above that kiosk that calls
us all to use our head, heart, and hands as we learn CPR.
That's what Matt certainly
did as he helped Sean, what our EMS squad does, and
what those who are trained here will also be called to do going forward. The University of Dayton
is incredibly honored to be the first university
in the country to have one of these machines. We are grateful to the
American Heart Association, the Cronins, and,
certainly, Dayton Freight for placing it here..
