How to Use an Air CompressorHow to Drain an Air Compressor

How to Use an Air CompressorHow to Drain an Air Compressor

Hi this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village
in this video clip I'll show you how to drain the tank of your air compressor. All compressed
air systems generate condensation inside of the tanks, now if you don't drain the tanks
on a regular bases rust will form inside the tank which could weakened the walls of the
tank and could be hazardous. The first thing you need to do is to make sure the on/off
switch is in the off position. Next you need to move the compressor so that it is incline,
this will make the drain valve the lowest point and it will just really help and getting
out all that dirt, debris, moisture or anything else inside the tank.

Now at this point you
would want to place some type of container underneath this drain valve for this demonstration
I'm just going to put a white piece of paper because I want to show you what comes out
of it. Now you want to slowly turn this drain valve counter clockwise remember righty tighty
lefty lucy and then fluid will start to come out of it. And then when the pressure goes
down your going to want to do it a little bit more. After it's fully drained I'm going ahead and
close my drain valve, just to show you what came out of the air compressor we have a lot
of dirt and kind of mukey water.

Just keep in mind if your hosing yourself off, if your
spraying somebody in the face this stuff could get picked up in the hoes and spray all over
them or if it was some little chunks of rust you could have little chunks of rust being
sprayed all over them..
